Spotlight on: Daniel Peeks

This month we turn the spotlight on Daniel Peeks, one of our Master’s level therapists who just joined Tapestry in March of 2014. Daniel is a recent graduate of Richmont University. He specializes in working with couples, as well as individuals who are struggling with substance abuse, pornography use and sexual addiction. He also enjoys working with people dealing with depression and anxiety.

Daniel grew up in Birmingham, Alabama where he played soccer and enjoyed University of Alabama football.   Daniel went to Mississippi State University for his undergraduate studies. While still a student, Daniel decided to live in Japan for four and a half years - first as an exchange student and then as an English teacher and Bible study leader. Daniel has been married to his wife Fidelle for five years and they have 2 children, Lucas, age 3, and Chloe, age 16 months.

When he's not working on foreign cars or reading, Daniel is probably reading about cars in his spare time. He also likes spending time reading the Bible and hanging out with his wife and kids. He is still a big fan of Alabama football although Mississippi State is his top pick.

Daniel found his way to counseling in high school. He took a test in a psychology class and he scored 100%. He says he thought, “wow, I must be good at this”. Later, at Mississippi State, a professor encouraged Daniel to enter the psychology field. Through this encouragement Daniel found what would eventually become his calling in life.

His passion in counseling can be found in the connection he forms with his clients. He enjoys helping others to solve problems, and getting to know to know them on a deeper level. He feels one of his strength is gaining the trust of other and he doesn't take lightly the great responsibility of entering into a counseling relationship. He likes the responsibility that comes with these relationships and assisting others in some of the hardest times in their lives.

Professionally, Daniel is working to develop a program designed to help new parents in sustaining their marriages. Daniel works hard as a counselor and desires to be the “go to” guy for individuals and couples who find themselves stuck or struggling to get by.   He is a bit of an over-achiever and looks forward to serving others through Tapestry.
