Brooks was born and raised in South Carolina, and after marrying her college sweetheart in 2001, she made her home in Georgia. She has always loved learning others’ stories and has had an ear for listening since she was a teenager.
Brooks believes that each of us is listening to a personal narrative all day long. This narrative is formed from every event, conversation, relationship and circumstance that we have experienced in our lives. Brick by brick, thought by thought, we build a narrative that becomes the lens through which we see life. Depending on our circumstances, this narrative can be positive or it can be negative. One of her deepest desires in life is to help others discover their narrative and evaluate whether or not it is in line with the Truth of who God says they are. This Truth will reveal how one can discover freedom and fullness as they live in a restored narrative. She understands, as the scripture tells us in Romans 12, the way to complete transformation begins with the renewing of our minds.
Brooks also believes our minds are bombarded and invaded with distraction. She is convinced that one of the roots of our dissatisfaction comes from being consumed with how people around us are living. She has a deep desire to help others learn and understand what their personal God given gifts are (everyone has them!) and assist them in discovering what areas God may be calling them to use those gifts. When we live fully in the lane to which God has called us, we are less distracted and concerned with where others’ energies are focused. Not only will we experience our fullest potential, but we can enjoy true freedom!
Through a lifetime of counseling others, mentoring teenagers and young women, teaching young mothers in Bible study, leading discipleship groups, and raising her own children, Brooks has had endless opportunities to help others discover the Truth of what God says about them. She has helped others recognize the beautiful and unique ways that He has gifted each person, and in that, she has watched countless people come to live in true freedom!
Brooks has been married to her husband for 23 years and together they have raised 3 teenage/adult children!
Spending time with her family is her favorite thing to do and they are happiest when they are in the salt air and sunshine
on the coast!
